WHO IS THE OWNER OF A COPYRIGHT?
The "author" (the person who created the work) is usually the owner of the copyright in the work, unless the author was working for hire, in which case the employer is the owner. There can be more than one author, and the original author or authors can assign or sell the copyright to someone else, such as a publisher, so the owner may be someone other than the person or persons who originally created the work..
